Deeply interested in self-taught artists who often rarely considered themselves artists at all, at age 21 Daniel became passionate about the preservation of Grandma Prisbrey’s Bottle Village: a Simi Valley, CA folk art environment. He completed his first National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) landmark application in 1996, helping preserve Bottle Village after the devastating 1994 Northridge earthquake. Since that time Daniel Paul has completed numerous NRHP, California Register of Historical Resources (CRHR) applications, and city-level landmark applications for a wide variety of properties. Other historic preservation documents completed by Daniel include Mills Act Tax Credit Applications, Historic Resource Assessments, and Secretary of the Interior’s Standards analysis documents.
